Technical Breakdown
Hydreigon’s unique quad weakness to Fairy and Ice types and 4x vulnerability to Dragon moves limit its defensive utility. Its sizable HP and Special Defense partially compensate, allowing it to withstand some special attacks. Dark/Dragon typing grants it resistances to Ghost, Psychic, and Grass, providing solid defensive utility.
Stealth Rock Spreading
Hydreigon excels at spreading Stealth Rock thanks to its Levitate ability, which grants immunity to Ground-type moves. This allows it to safely set up entry hazards without fear of being trapped by Ground-type attacks. Its Dark typing further aids in this role, as it resists Pursuit from opposing Ghost-types commonly used to punish Stealth Rock users.
Dragon Dance Blademaster
Hydreigon’s potent Dragon Dance move boosts its Attack and Speed, allowing it to become a dangerous sweeper. Dark Pulse and Draco Meteor provide coverage against Ghost, Psychic, and Dragon-type Pokemon. Fire Blast further extends its coverage, threatening Grass, Steel, and Ice-types. Leftovers provides passive recovery, enhancing Hydreigon’s longevity.
