Common Challenges
The original soundtrack for Lumines was composed by a team of three composers: Mitsuto Suzuki, Naoshi Mizuta, and Ayako Saso. While this collaboration resulted in a cohesive and memorable soundtrack, it also presented challenges in terms of coordinating schedules and ensuring a unified creative vision. The composers had different backgrounds and musical styles, and managing these differences while maintaining a consistent sound for the game proved to be a task that required careful planning and communication.
Innovative Solutions
To overcome these challenges, the composers established a clear division of labor, with each taking responsibility for specific sections of the soundtrack. This allowed them to work independently while still adhering to a shared aesthetic direction. Regular meetings were held to discuss progress, exchange ideas, and ensure that the music remained cohesive. Additionally, the composers used a centralized digital workspace to share their work and provide feedback, which facilitated collaboration and streamlined the creative process.
